FINALLY! News from IDAHO

Hello Dear Family and Friends! It has been much much too long since we've updated our blog and shared bits and pieces of our life's adventure with you all. I hope this note finds you well!

As many of you know we moved from Destin, Florida in April over a year ago. We made a short stop over in Front Royal, VA; living for 3 months with our generous and absolutely AWESOME brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Kristin Uhlenkott. Long enough there to get safely through the throws of serious morning sickness with our 4th pregnancy... Kristin was an angel, not exagerating! For all of you who have never met or for those of you who may remember her, my beautiful red-headed sister-in-law, Kristin... she really got me through those horrendous days, taking care of my kiddos and being there for me like none other! Dan worked with Paul for those months... and sadly saying good-bye to the East we packed our things and headed out to Idaho for yet another adventure.

We've been here now almost an entire year. On January 18(my Dad's birthday), our daughter, Evangeline Grace was born. She has been the most sweet, docile, happy, easy-going baby EVER! Thank GOD for that.

Gianna, now 6 1/2 is my big helper. Very thoughtful and compassionate. She's been loving all the outdoorsie things there are to do here... her favorite thing is fishing with Daddy... proudly catching more than he does at times ;) She's getting ready for 1st grade coming up and is learning to read pretty well.

Phoebe, 4 1/2, is the little mommy and quite the girlie-girl. Loves playing dress-up... and can be quite dramatic... Happy little bright-light always trying to make everyone smile... she does have that side to her that brings a little fear when thinking what it's going to be like when and if she reaches 16. It's scary when you have one just like yourself... ;)

Xavier is 2 1/2 and is growing super fast! He's almost as tall as Phoebe... He's into trains, boats, "pick-ips", tractors, jets... you know all that boy-stuff. Goes to work with Dan and is just Oh-so-tough! Favorite word: ME BIG... He's a teaser... and a charmer.

Dan's 30-something.. :) just kidding... He's been working in his father's Water Pump business. It's been steady this summer, which we are again extremely thankful! I've been so blessed in my marriage! He's such a hard worker, dedicated father, so loving... I'm just blessed to have him by my side!

Never in a million years would I have ever guessed IDAHO is where we'd be today! It is very DIFFERENT than the east, but not more beautiful... There are soooo many beautiful places in our country it's astounding. New England will always feel like home to me... I love the trees and the lakes and the easy mountains and rolling hills.... Idaho is more COUNTRY than anything I've ever experienced except for maybe some spots in WYOMING... It's wild and the mountains are breathtaking... Everything's BIGGER our here. The sky, the mountains... the vast prairie... There really are Wolves... and ELK... and rattlesnakes... Buffalo... Cowboys...Indians... ;) Everyone has a horse or two or twelve... Everyone wears cowboy hats, cowboy boots (can't wait to get me a pair ;) belt buckles... pick-up trucks... and my best Idaho friend lives in Greencreek, but that's pronounced "Greencrick" and if you say it any other way you feel like an idiot ;)

I remember Dad loving the West and always wanting to come back and visit... he used to tell us stories about it... and of course there were all those John Wayne movies with Grampy... that we LOVED watching growing up... When Dan and I are poking fun at each other over our "roots" I'll say to him "id don't matterrrr".... he just looks back at me and says "yer wicked Smaht" ...we get a good laugh at it all :)

There certainly has been a lot of sweat, blood and tears put into our life thus far, but the reward to date: a beautiful marriage, 4 gorgeous and happy kids, an amazing and supportive extended family on both sides and those friends that make life worth living.

I never thought I'd be in Idaho... and I don't know how long it'll last... but while we're here... We might as well "Live it Up" and Thank God for it all :)

Thanksgiving in Florida

We hope that you and your families have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a great time down here in Destin with a visit from Aunt Kristina and Uncle Mark and have just found a free minute to share some pictures.

On Friday we went to Navarre Beach on our way to Pensacola - It was gorgeous! We practically had the place to ourselves and was a 1st for us all spending a day in November on the gulf shore!

On Saturday following THanksgiving Kristina and Dan took the girls for a trip to the USAF Armament Museum and got some fun pictures there too... ENJOY!!!

I've been "filling-in" where I'm needed to help out over at the hanger and happened to catch a ride along with another couple going on a tour... 2 days ago. It was neat seeing Dan in action! The whole thing about the flight was amazing!!! The actual flying part was like nothing I've ever experienced - I can't wait for us to take the kids up! and neither can they!!!! Dan does an incredible job and instills confidence in anyone a little "wary" about their first time in a helicopter. He's so good with all the people he takes up and it's so funny and neat to see how they respond to him. I hear so often, "We have to get a picture with the pilot!" I'm so proud of him, really!

We had a group from Texas come by last night - 7 of them wanted to go... the next day we had 5 more from the same group... Just the neatest family - we had a lot of fun with them.

I just thought you may enjoy seeing what the beaches are like. Dan took up a really great guy who's shared some of his pictures from his 2nd "Aerial Photography Run". They flew around for about 30min. and grabbed some impeccable shots... as you can see! This is what a lot of people are seeing on the majority of the tours Dan flies.

I thought for all of you who have been nearly as anxious as we have been to get this company on it's feet, would enjoy a couple video clips and pictures of the first official day in operation! The location is temporarily at the Destin Airport, where just a couple days ago Kenny Chesney flew in for the weekend! HAH! Hope you enjoy seeing Dan in action! Uhlenkotts in Florida

Hello Dear Friends and Family!!!

We have moved AGAIN and have landed (for the time being) in Destin, FL.... for most of you a total shock - "whatever are Dan and Mimi doing in Florida????"

Awhile back many of you may remember the pictures we took of our beautiful trip to Tennessee... and a hope that maybe that's where we'd end up... well, as life, GOD, would have it Tennessee was just a step in the direction of Helicopter Touring... Dan was sure that that would be a great business venture where he could build flying time and make good money and happened to meet down there another pilot who was interested in starting up a touring company - so they pooled their resources together and... here we are... Destin is absolutely beautiful!!! It's on the panhandle - the stunning Emerald Coast - known for it's snow-white beaches and emerald water - - - as well as for it's high-end tourism, of course.

We found out that all things were a go only about 2-3 weeks ago. we found a house to rent in Destin and like the exodus packed and moved out at a pace that i didn't think a family of 5 could move... Dan and the girls drove the uhaul with X and I cruising along in the camry. It was such a fun trip! Heading to Jacksonville, FL the 1st day (blowing only one tire on the uhaul) and straight to Destin the next... into our new little home...

We're right next to the airport - 1mile from Corpus Chrisit, our new parish (our first mass there being on the feast of Corpus Christi :) Kneelers? Tabernacle? Daily Mass? check, check, and check :)) - 1 mile from beaches on one side and 2-3 miles on the gulf side.

It's a little daunting starting things all-over again, but exciting too. Everything new down here... and seeing what God has in store for us. Making new friends, seeing new places... and Dan will be flying... something we've been working and sacrificing for for a LONG time! Thank you all for your prayers and please continue to pray that this venture... our adventure... is successful - and GOD's Will BE DONE!

WE Love you all and would love to see you all in Destin!!!! We have space for visits this time :) Please come.... the emerald coast is really like nothing i've ever seen!

Our Trip to Tennessee

Well... It really has been quite a long while since we last posted on our blog. After hearing so much of our adventure down to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Seveirville, Tennessee, we thought you may all enjoy seeing some of our pictures.

We had such an amazing trip to the Smokey Mountains and loved every minute of it!!! We did a lot of hiking in the mountains (one of the most beautiful places I've ever been) , visited the #1 Aquarium in the nation (a blast!), Did some "go-carting" (fun, fun, fun) and of course, the purpose of our trip, Dan got his R44 ticket!!

We hope that you enjoy all these memorable pictures... I've also posted a video of Dan flying!!! And hope that you and your families are doing well - we're praying for you all, please keep us in your prayers as well.

Well! The day has finally arrived after 9 long months - we have a healthy baby boy in the family!

Xavier Daniel Uhlenkott was born via cesarean section on October 30th at 1:45pm, weighing in at 9lbs 4oz and 21 inches long! Mommy and Baby X are doing very well and already recovering swiftly. Yesterday, November 2nd, everyone came home from the hospital and now we're able to share some adorable pictures of our little man with you!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and sharing in this GREAT JOY with us!

Uhlenkott Update

Hello Everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick update since it's been a few months. Dan has been exceedingly busy with work - He's been up in Vermont doing a huge job for the last few days. The summer months are just jammed full with jobs. We get a chance here and there to do some hiking with the girls and swimming, which they both just LOVE! And biking in Daddy's bike which has that attachment - we call it the "pod". Both Gianna and Phoebe are growing up so fast. Phoebe's crawling everywhere and working on some more teeth. It's amazing that she's already 8 and1/2 months old. Gianna is also getting bigger - taller! She loves singing and dancing... anything that involves lots of movement - it's impossible to keep her still!

We hope you are all well - especially all you expectant mothers! We pray for you all daily. May God Bless you and your families~

It's been awhile since our last post. We've had a lot going on here including fun family times and uhlenkott visits. We've been getting quite a lot of snow even though Spring had popped up on our calendars. Instead of snow for Christmas we have it for Easter, go figure! We enjoyed a short weekend with Aunt Kristina and Uncle Mark from steubenville - It was wonderful having you up here with us. We celebrated Dan's birthday for almost a whole week straight (I think he just gets jealous that I get to have so much attention on mine as both Gianna and Phoebe arrived within weeks of my birthday... hehe..) then we travelled down to steubenville to go to Aunt Kristina's "capping ceremony" aka "nursing dedication" at the end of March. We were able to see Mom and Dad Uhlenkott and Rachel who had flown out from Idaho; as well as Kristin and Paul and their little irish clan. It was a wonderful time with family and unfortunately we didn't get to take too many pictures, but i'll post a few. We really missed seeing Matt and Magdalen, and Greg and Maura, and all the other cousins (especially Raphael whom we haven't met yet). And uncle Jacob who sincerely broke our daughter, Gianna's, heart! You definitely did not win the favorite uncle award this year, Jake. .. hehe...We all hope you have a wonderful and blessed Easter.

Phoebe Rose is Baptized

Phoebe Rose was Baptized on the feast of St. Catherine of Alexandria, November 25th at 5:30pm. My sister, Katie, and her husband, Stefan, are Phoebe's God-parents and Fr. Rick, our pastor, performed the ceremony. Phoebe's Baptism was absolutely beautiful! There was not one person more happy than she was that evening - she was smiling away! THe minute Fr. Rick poured the water over her head she just beamed a smile! (hopefully you'll be able to see it in the picture)
Fr. Rick also did something very beautiful with the consecration to Our Blessed Mother. After the enrollment in the brown scapular he lifted Phoebe up at the altar and prayed the Hail Holy Queen - It was extremely moving and filled my eyes with tears and our hearts with Joy! and now Phoebe Rose truly is our Pure Bright Light!

It has been wonderful having our little Phoebe with us. She is a beautiful gift to our growing family. Gianna loves her "baby sisser" and new playmate and Phoebe is already responding to her "big sisser" with lots of smiles.

Not too long after Maria left we had another visit from our Uhlenkott family, who had come up for Phoebe's Baptism. Aunties Kate and Mary came up from Boston for an overnight-er and brought uhlenkott cousin, Aaron along with them. We all had such a good time together - Our house was filled to the brim!

Gianna had a lot of fun playing with Aunt Rachel - especially the blocks up in the play room. She loved all the attention from both her aunts and uncles. She is still talking about Uncle Jake and Aunt Rachel.

. Grandmommie has her two little Roses(well... one big and one little rose) Pretty in Pink! We were all sad to see you go, but look forward to our next visit together. At last the long awaited pictures of Phoebe Rose... a beautiful baby born at 09:05 on the 14th of October, weighing in at 8 lbs 12.5 oz and 21 inches long. Mimi had to have a c-section and she is recovering very well. Gianna loves her new little sister...she works as a great distraction for her to get into the cookies unnoticed.
God is good! Thanks to Him for a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery and this beautiful new gift to the world.

Another year has gone by marked with exceptional blessings from God. Our new baby is due the 12th of October. Gianna is growing up and makes us happier everyday. She is loads of fun and very high-energy. Her favorite words are: Jesus, Big Truck, Jet, Plane, Stars, Moon and Cookie. She is her father's daughter... she's talking a lot these days (she is her mother's daughter!)...
